Stories of our Youth from Glen Cowgill

March 23, 2020

As a very young boy, I remember the soldiers in uniform coming home [from WWII] on leave and then going back. I think the first one was my Uncle Jake Jackson, then my uncle Bill Jackson who I have a picture somewhere with me and my Uncle Bill Jackson in that beautiful white Navy uniform. Then in 1945 or 1946, I remember my dad coming home. Those days were special. My Grandmother Jackson was the one who kept the family together. She was the best cook in the world to young me. I really wanted to become a soldier after seeing those uniforms. Eventually I got my chance.
