Kathryn Adelaide “Kitty” Hodges b. 9 April 1916, d. 29 Jan 2022 was a wife of a descendant of John Jackson Jr. and his first wife (Rebecca Haddan).
Kathryn Adelaide Hodges was born in Tacoma, Washington. Attended Lincoln Grade School and McCarver Jr. High School, Tacoma.
Spent summer months of her youth with her three sisters and mother at a remote cabin on the west shore of Quartermaster Harbor of Vashon Island. Accessed by rowing from Pt. Defiance in Tacoma.
Graduate of Roosevelt High School, Seattle. Master of Fine Arts, University of Washington Faculty, Art Department Seattle Pacific College, 1940-1944.
Early career paintings selected for exhibit at Seattle Art Museum and San Francisco Museum of Art.
Seattle Public School teacher for a few years in 1960’s.
Wife to Warren Hodges, Jr. for 65 years until his passing in 2006. They raised five sons, Warren III (1949-2020), Norman (Cheryl), Thomas, Peter, Matthew. Proud grandmother to Kathryn Rose.
Member of University Methodist Temple.
She most valued her family, her sisters, in laws, nephews and nieces and all their children, her faith and church family, the visual arts of painting and sculpture, rowing across the waters of Quartermaster Harbor to her small rustic land locked cabin, and with her husband shared a strong belief in and support of social change for a more just, equitable, compassionate, and inclusive world.
